To be fair, you seem to, and some of the other people who've answered do. If you're running low on disk space, you should delete them. Some people like to delete them weekly. Meh. If you want to do that. They're not harmful.
While I think of it, your 'Eraser' that you referred to... if it's what I think it is, it'll take a VERY long time to delete all these files. Only use something like that (i.e. anything other than standard 'Delete') when permanently deleting a file is a matter of security. It's just a waste of time otherwise.
If you do decide to delete them, you should leave your history intact, unless you want to have to manually type in your web addresses for the next week or so.
Deleting your cookies from time to time would, however, be a good idea. They can be used to track your browsing habits, although they are quite helpful (keeping you signed into Facebook, etc.) so deleting them means you'll have to sign back in to everything afterwards. Your call.
Oh, and if you've got so many files because you never leave the house, we're having a pretty decent summer right now; you should check it out.
Hope this helps.

Delete them, leave them, who cares? To be fair, you seem to, and some of the other people who’ve answered do.
