For an even better experience with helping people, try volunteering for a diaster relief team or a missions trip. I went with a diaster relief team down to Pensacola, FL to help clean up after hurricane Ivan and the experience is something you can only feel and not explain. Helping people who have lost everything, lost hope, and spirits seem to be nonexistant, and then repairing their homes, helping them out, and seeing the smile on the face by the time you leave is something I recommend everyone do at least once in your life. You have to really love animals though! Also homeless shelters can be very rewarding but you might want to ask a parent to go with you on that one. Also check with your school or church, they might have a volunteer club or organization that can set you up with ideas and you can get all your friends to join! I did it for 6 years. Any encouragement you can give a child who's failing or has a bad family life will help him and will probably change his life. It also gave me a great sense of worth.
