How to lower splashing from sponge filter?
I'm now cycling the tank with the consume filter for ADFs though the filter creates the lot some-more H2O transformation than we suspicion as well as reduced of removing the Whisper filter, we don't know what to do.
Does any one know how we can reduce the volume of froth or H2O movement? It's the 5 gal though I'm regulating the siphon as well as consume filter done fo "up to 10 gal".
Your air pump sounds like it's too powerful, and the amount of bubbles it's making is what's causing the splashing.
You could get a smaller pump, or you can bleed off some of the air going into the tubing going to the sponge filter. To do that you'd need to have 3 pieces of tubing [or cut the piece you have into 3 parts]. You also need a T connector and a air valve for the tubing. Run 1 piece of tubing from the pump to the T and another from the T to the sponge. On the other part of the T, put the last piece of tubing with the air valve, and adjust the valve to where the current and bubbles popping are so you can live with it.
If the splashing is getting water outside the tank, you can lower the water level a little, or use a glass cover. Just keep about an inch and a half between the top of the water and the glass so your ADFs can come up for air.
