Do you really believe that you are going to save money by adding $30000 worth of upgrades to your house??? By the time you pay that off you won’t even live there anymore and you will be paying the big bills again in the next house. It would take the average household 10 years of zero electric and gas bills to make up $30000. Just find the idea weird unless your planning on staying in the house forever who does that anymore.

The savings from most conversions on your home will be too small to offset the cost of the conversion in most cases. Try to conserve energy by getting CFL bulbs and turning your electronics off and running dishwasher/laundry at off-peak times

I’m sure there are consultants that can INSPECT your house and give you suggestions. Your utility company can probably recommend one. No one can ‘pass by’ your house and tell you anything useful.
